PTI dissident leader Ahmed Hussain Deharr hints at joining PML-N
PTI dissident leader Ahmed Hussain Deharr has hinted at contesting the general elections on the PML-N ticket, as he looks forward to joining a party that has steered the country out of crisis.
“I will support those who have served this country. I am daily adding groups and people are joining me,” he said on Aaj News show Rubaroo. “We are having consultation that we have to support those who can steer the country out of the crisis.”
He was speaking to a query about his political affiliation in upcoming general elections. Deharr while answering the question mentioned that before 2017 conditions were better and American investors were visiting Pakistan.
When asked whether PML-N was ready to give him a ticket to contest elections, the PTI leader said that he did not know and expressed his desire.
While speaking about the caretaker prime minister, he stressed the need for appointing a person with financial expertise to continue policies and strengthen the economy.
Deharr used to call Imran Khan ‘Ertugrul’
Host Shaukat Piracha also discussed the recent National Assembly session where Defence Minister Khawaja Asif used some remarks about female parliamentarians of PTI that were immediately expunged by the speaker.
Deharr recalled what kind of words the PTI chief used for army men. He shared that he used to call “Ertugrul” – the lead character of famous Turkish series – to former prime minister Imran Khan.
To some extent, he blamed the PTI leaders for such remarks because of the words used by Khan in the past.
‘Khan wanted to have his own army chief’
On the show, Deharr claimed that by leaving the party during no-confidence motion time he and his fellow members averted an alleged plan of former prime minister.
When asked what it was, he said Khan wanted to bring former spymaster General Faiz Hameed as army chief and roll back the nuclear programme. But Deharr could not substantiate his claims when the host asked him about the reasons.
The PTI leader alleged that former army chief General (retd) Bajwa was given an extension to appoint Faiz as his successor. He alleged that the PTI chief was an “agent of India and Israel”.
Deharr accuses Shah Mahmood Qureshi of mega corruption
The PTI MNA accused former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of mega corruption in South Punjab and added that he had shared such revelations during party meetings.
But for Dehar, as per his claims, such information cost him dearly as several MPAs addressed a press conference a day after the party’s meeting and he was sent a show cause notice.
He claimed that he responded to it with “evidence” after which he was exonerated. “I myself gave a bribe in the CM Secretariat for legal work.”
He was of the view that if the 2018 election was “contentious” then no election in Pakistan was considered legitimate.
