Karachi’s main Muharram 8 procession began at Nishtar Park on Thursday.

The procession began at 1:30 pm. Strict security arrangements have been made and mobile services have been suspended along the procession’s route.

Security arrangements were completed the night before the procession was to take place. MA Jinnah road was completely sealed while many streets and smaller roads along the route were also blocked with containers.

A total of 40,000 police officials are on duty to ensure security for the procession along with rangers personell and 300 traffic wardens.

Mobile services have been suspended in Numaish, Lines, Saddar, Bolton Market, Tower, PECHS, Kashmir Road, Malir and Martin quarter.
