‘More TikTok followers than Hareem Shah’, prosecutor quips at Imran

Imran did not appear in 6 cases related to May 9

A prosecutor was told off by a district and sessions judge in Islamabad after he brought up Imran Khan’s TikTok following in court.

The court took up six different cases regarding Imran Khan’s involvement in the violent protests of May 9 on Wednesday. Imran’s lawyers asked for him to be exempted from in-person appearance as he was in the Supreme Court.

In reposnse the judge said the Imran should ensure his appearance by 1:30 pm.

The prosecutor said that Imran Khan should appear as the government was making ample arrangements for his security.

The court also remarked that Imran should appear as other people were appearing in murder cases as well.

The prosecutor then quipped that Imran Khan’s TikTok following had surpassed Hareem Shah’s but the judge cut him off and asked him to refrain from such remarks.

The prosecutor then asked for the case to be postponed till July 31 and asked the court to ensure Imran Khan’s presence.
