Blocked roads: Family moves body on shoulders in Balochistan’s Sibi

A family was forced to carry the body of their loved one on their shoulders after roads were blocked near Pinjra Pull in Sibi, Balochistan on Sunday following a heavy downpour last night.

The footage of the event shows a body placed inside an Edhi ambulance while the road is blocked with a long queue of heavy vehicles stuck on the submerged road.

The family then carried the body on their shoulders as the ambulance could not pass through the submerged blocked road.

Several areas in the country were brought to a standstill after a new spell of monsoon rains began on Sunday, resulting in the killing of at least seven people.

The authorities warned of landslides, urban flooding and high river flows during the spell which is expected to last till Wednesday.

The rains arrive as a new monsoon system originating in the Bay of Bengal enters the country.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government also declared an emergency in Upper and Lower Chitral on Sunday, after the district administration sounded the alarm. The emergency will stay in effect till August 15.
