Russian airliner loses engine cowling during takeoff
Russian Azimuth Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing as it lost both of the fan cowls of the left engine moments after taking off from Mineralnye Vody Airport in Russia on Saturday.
A video posted to Twitter shows the cowling of the left engine of the aircraft detached from the engine.
Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 flight was bound for Yerevan, however, it returned safely to Mineralnye Vody Airport shortly after takeoff.
The detached engine cover and parts were later found in the territory of the airport and recovered by airport staff.
