Punab’s Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday approved a plan for setting up online portals or websites aimed at collecting donations and charity from overseas devotees of the religious shrines located in the province.

The money would be spent on the maintenance and renovation of shrines across the province.

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has been tasked to develop websites where those desiring to contribute would be re-directed to a specific section to make donations.

Each shrine will have its separate website where devotees will be able to make donations for a specific cause.

For example, they will be able to specify if their money is spent only on food distribution.

The portal will allow the donors to monitor the distribution process as well.

For people’s convenience, the portals will enable them to send funds through mobile banking, credit cards, and ATMs.

In a related development, the government has decided to redesign the shrine of Sufi saint and mystic poet Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah.

The complex of Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar’s shrine would be further expanded. To resolve the traffic issues around the shrines, parking, and food center would be established in the basement.
