Mohammad Basit, who was arrested for killing his three minor sisters in south Punjab city of Muzaffargarh on Tuesday, calls himself a “lover of PUBG” and has revealed to investigators that he learned the method of killing from the player versus-player shooter game.

Basit, who has already confessed to killing his young sisters, said that sibling envy was also a motive behind murder because his parents showered love on the girls and had decided to give them share in agricultural land according to Islamic inheritance laws, the Voice of America reported.

“There was only one thing on my mind that somehow all three [sisters] should be disposed of as they were receiving more love from my parents. My father’s entire salary was spent on them, which I did not like,” said Basit, disclosing the state of jealousy he was in.

“If they don’t live the situation in our house will be better,” Basit recalled his inner vicious reasoning behind the killings of three minor girls as he spoke to investigators

The accused said that the family owned ancestral lands in his native region of Talagang.

He said that he never wanted his sisters to get a share in ancestral lands and use them for cultivation.

Basit said that he waited for the right opportunity to carry out his sinister plans when on Monday both his parents were not at home at the time of incident.

The accused said that he sent his brother to collect flour from the mill, said the report. “I siezed the opportunity and thought there wouldn’t be a better time to get rid of all three girls,” he said.

The three young sisters were murdered in Thermal Colony area of Muzaffargarh district on Monday sending shockwaves across the country.

The police, while investigating, arrested three brothers of the ill-fated girls and Basit confessed to his crime following 12-hours of investigation.

This led police to reach the crime scene where they recovered weapon (knife), after which they formally arrested him.

Providing details about his gruesome act, Basit said that he first lured his eight-year-old sister Zahra Ejaz to an empty government quarter on the pretext of catching a chicken for cooking.

He said after taking her to the quarters, he tied her with a rope, returned home, took a knife and then slaughtered her. After which he decapitated the youngest sister, seven-year-old Abiya, repeating the same pattern.

An hour later, the elder sister of the two girls, 11-year-old Arisha inquired about his sisters from Basit who feigned ignorance. Basit grabbed this opportunity and took Areesha for a search to the same quarter, where she too was killed in the same manner.

Meanwhile, Muzaffargarh District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider told reporters on Wednesday that evidences against accused Basit had been collected from the crime scene.

“Blood stains were visible in the toenails of the accused, which made him a suspect. The quarter was used by the victim’s family. How could it be that the bodies were at home and the family was not aware of it,” he wondered.

The DPO said that Basit tried his best to mislead the police by calling the helpline ‘15’ at 10:30pm and informing the police that his sisters were missing. Later, he along with the police kept searching for the girls in a bid to dispel the suspicion the police may assume about his role in the murder.

The DPO further said the accused is unmarried and had told his parents several times about his wish to get married. He was not happy with his job either, he added, while sharing the state of frustration he was in.

Meanwhile, the father confided to the police that his two sons Shahzeb and Basit were also fond of playing PUBG.

“Little did I know that the game was so dangerous that it would kill all my three daughters,” said the father.
