The District Central Police Paposh have claimed to have arrested two suspects involved in the killing of Pakistan-born Canadian citizen Aminuddin Alvi, 65, during an armed robbery on June 26.

The two suspects, identified as Zaheer and Khalil have confessed to the crime during the investigations, Senior Superintendent of Police Central Maroof Usman said on Sunday.

The police filed the first information report with the deceased’s sister as the plaintiff. The complaint was filed under sections 302 (Punishment of qatl-i-amd) and 393 (Attempt to commit robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Alvi, who had returned to Pakistan for Eidul Azha, was shot dead by armed robbers over resistance near the Paposh Nagar area last month.

The deceased had taken children of the area for Eid shopping when the two armed robbers tried to rob him near the Paposh Nagar Railway gate, SSP Usman said.

He went on to that Alvi went to a money exchange to exchange dollars, from where the suspected robbers started following him.

The robbers came on a bike and one of them reached for Alvi’s pocket when they were standing near the car after shopping, which the victim resisted and pushed the robbers. Subsequently, the robbers shot him and fled from the scene towards Nagin Chowrangi.

Alvi was a retired employee of Saudi Airlines. He had two sons and two daughters.
