Landslide kills two minors in KP’s Mingora
At least two children were killed on Monday in a landslide in Mingora city of Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while two were injured, police said.
The Swat police, Rescue 1122 and local residents carried out the relief efforts and recovered two bodies and the two injured from the debris. The children are reported have been between the age of 8 to 10 years.
A team of the Pak army also took part in the rescue operation.
The bodies and the injured were shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital in Swat after the rescue operation.
The torrential rains have lashed parts of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and KP, where higher than usual rainfall has been forecast for this Monsoon season.
On June 7, multiple landslides along the Karakoram Highway left hundreds of passengers and tourists stranded as authorities announced that Monsoon rains have claimed more than 50 lives across the country.
A day earlier, landslide in KP’s Shangla district killed at least eight children and injured one playing. The children were playing in a field when they met with an accident in the Martung area.
