Public gatherings banned in Islamabad for two months
The deputy commissioner of Islamabad on Sunday imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in Islamabad for two months.
“It has been brought to appear before me that certain segments of society are planning to organize unlawful assemblies including Majalis/Processions within the jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital Territory which can disrupt public space and tranquility and keeping in view the current law and order and security environment,” said a notification from addition district magistrate issued on Sunday.
“It is necessary to control such types of illegal activities which present a threat to public peace, tranquility and maintenance of law and order.”
After the imposition of Section 144, gatherings of more than five people at one place for rallies and protests will be banned in the capital.
