Carry On Jatta 3 – an Indian Punjabi comedy film – ruled the Pakistani box office on Eidul Azha, beating six local movies. Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa starrer movie generated $260,000 in revenue, according to an Indian entertainment website.

“Carry On Jatta 3 has also made a significant impact in Pakistan, generating $260K in revenue and becoming the first Indian Punjabi film to tap into this previously untapped market,” the Pinkvilla said.

Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Diya Jandu, Kavita Kaushik, Pakistani actor Nasir Chinyoti, and Gurpreet Ghuggi are also part of the cast.

The story revolves around Grewal’s character Jass, who is in love with Bajwa’s character, Meet. But her brothers get in a tussle with Jass’s father Jaswinder Bhalla. As a result, Bhalla rejects Meet’s hand in marriage. Left with no option, Jass makes a madhouse plan to propose to his friend.

The movie grossed more than Rs70 million over the extended Eid weekend in Pakistan, Ali Zain, a film trade analyst, tweeted.

In another tweet, Zain added that Pakistan’s Teri Meri Kahaniyaan had a decent opening. Despite tough competition from the Indian film franchise, it managed to collect approximately Rs40 million over the four-day weekend.

But See Prime, a company that produced the anthology film, claimed that the movie had a business of Rs50 million during the Eid holidays. “And the numbers are IN! TERI MERI KAHANIYAAN marks a stunning 5 CRORE at the domestic box office for the first weekend of screening!” it said in an Instagram post.

In the film Teri Meri Kahaniyaan, three short stories are depicted. The first story revolved around a horror-comedy story, Jinn Mahal, with Hira, Mani, and Gul-e-Rana in the main roles. The second is a fluffy romance titled Pasoori. Ramsha Khan and Sheheryar Munawar are in the lead cast.

The third story is titled Aik Sau Taeeswaan. It is from the hit duo Khalilur Rehman and Nadeem Baig, featuring Wahaj Ali, Mahwish Hayat, and Zahid Ahmed in the cast.

On the first day of Eid, Teri Meri Kahaniyaan got the highest number of shows with a total number of 174, followed by Carry On Jatta 3 which got 100 shows. It merits here to mention that the film was released only in the Punjab circuit.

According to a report, another big film VIP faced a cut in the shows on the first day of Eid. The film also seemed to suffer from a weak marketing strategy. Many cinemas closed the film on the third day of Eid and the film was taken down.

VIP and Madari released on Eid failed to do enough business as the former collected over Rs4 million and the latter had a business of over one million.

VIP Director Rana Kamran confirmed to Aaj News the depressing numbers of the movie.
