A tragic incident unfolded at a shrine in Sindh’s Sanghar district, where a man lost his life after being subjected to violence and forced to drink goat’s blood allegedly by a “faith healer” on Saturday.

“Bhope Pir [a local name used for faith healer], along with his associates, Roshan Thaem and Sultan Thaem, are responsible for my brother’s murder,” Akram Ali Thaem, brother of the victim, told reporters.

The deceased was identified as Aashiq Ali, a resident of Goth Mank Thaem in Tando Adam.

Akram accused the healer of subjecting his brother to violence under the pretext of exorcising evil spirits and forcing him to consume the goat’s blood, resulting in his tragic demise. He called for immediate action against the “fake faith healer” and his accomplices.

Initial reports said that Aashiq Ali’s family took him to the shrine near Tando Adam when his health deteriorated. Seeking blessings and a cure for his ailment, they approached Hashim Shah, who claimed to possess mystical powers. The healer instructed them that the Aashiq was possessed by supernatural beings and needed to consume the blood of a sacrificial goat immediately.

Without questioning the authenticity of the “faith healer’s” claims, the family complied and arranged for a goat to be sacrificed. The healer proceeded to cut the goat and forced Aashiq to drink its blood. The man’s condition worsened rapidly after consuming the goat’s blood, and he succumbed to his deteriorating health.

The grieving family of the deceased immediately accused the healer of the murder of Aashiq. They lodged a complaint against the suspect at the Bagho Wadadani Police Post, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident. The family also provided a medical report from the hospital confirming the cause of death, further supporting their claims.
