Red Bus conductor sacked for misbehaving with female passenger
The Peoples Bus Service has fired a bus conductor who was seen in a viral video misbehaving with a female passenger earlier this week.
The incident, which happened on route three of the bus, took place on June 27.
The conductor was named Jamal, an official from the Bus told Aaj News. The administration added that the complaint number was available in all vehicles.
The provincial government last year introduced Red color air-conditioned buses imported from China on dozens of routes in Karachi and other Sindh cities.
The video, which was recorded by commuters on one of the buses, shows the conductor getting involved in a heated exchange with a female passenger over returning Rs50 after fare payment.
During the exchange, the conductor appears to make a lunge at the woman, on which the female passengers ask him to step back and speak from a distance.
When the conductor refuses to step back, a male passenger intervenes, carrying the conductor away from the female compartment of the bus.
The incident led to an investigation that ended with the conductor being fired.
He was sacked and photographed with this termination letter, which was shared with reporters.
