Pregnant mother arrested for kidnapping infant boy from Faisalabad hospital
The police have arrested a pregnant mother of six daughters who allegedly kidnapped an infant boy from Allied Hospital in Faisalabad, Superintendent Police of Lyallpur Division Irtaza Kamil said.
“Sumaira was arrested by the police and the abducted infant boy has been recovered,” he said during a media briefing at Police Line in Faisalabad on Wednesday.
The wife of Liaquat, a resident of Gujranwala had given birth to a baby boy in the gynaecology ward of Allied Hospital on June 21, when an unidentified woman kidnapped the newborn boy from the hospital.
SP Kamil said that the police have produced the suspect before the duty magistrate and got a physical remand of her.
He went on to add that the suspect confessed to her crime during interrogation. “A mother of six daughters, she committed the crime to have a boy. She also confessed giving a bribe of Rs70,000 to hospital staff for helping her carry out the crime.”
The police have started investigation over the information about hospital staff’s alleged involvement in the kidnapping, he added.
