Pakistan brings back two wanted kidnappers from UAE
Punjab police has arrested two highly wanted criminals involved in multiple incidents of kidnapping for ransom from the United Arab Emirates.
One of the alleged criminals, Hadiq ur Rehman, was arrested from the UAE four days ago and will be shifted to Lahore via flight on Tuesday evening, a statement from the police said.
Rehman had allegedly kidnapped a man from Faisalabad two days ago and demanded Rs5 million in ransom.
Although situated in UAE, Rehman had used a WhatsApp number registered in the United States to plan out the crime. The crime was carried out with help from accomplices in Pakistan.
Police claimed that Rehman has already confessed to his involvement in the crime and the mobile phone allegdly used in the crime has also been recovered.
The other alleged kidnapper who has been arrested is a woman identified as Parveen Akhtar who had been wanted by the police for kidnapping a woman since 2009.
With these two arrests the number of absconders and highly wanted criminals arrested from abraod in recent days has reached 88.
