Balochistan govt directs security agencies to remove check posts on highways

The Balochistan government has directed all the federal and provincial agencies’ to “immediately” remove check posts on highways in the province.

The decision was taken during a special meeting of the provincial cabinet under the chair of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in Quetta on Sunday. They met to review the overall law and order situation in the province.

Officials said that women, children and old-aged citizens were stopped for hours at the check posts.

It was also decided that no check post would be established on the highways without the permission of Balochistan’s Home Department.

The cabinet decided to take a “strong” action against the drug peddlers in Quetta. It directed the Balochsitan police and Anti Narcotics Force to “immediately” start operation against the drug dealers.
