The app for the Peoples Bus Service has been launched, however, the feature ‘card operation’ is still under development as checked by Aaj Digital on Friday.

The app will provide passengers with the facility to buy a transportation card and check their balance through the app, Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said at the inauguration ceremony of the app in Karachi on Thursday.

However, on tapping the option to buy a transportation card and card operations, it shows “coming soon!”.

Memon said that the newly launched app of the Peoples Bus Service will facilitate the passengers to commute in a “smooth manner”.

The app will provide access to information such as ticket prices for different routes, bus timings, bus service monitoring, and other necessary details, he added.

The app shows a minimum fare of Rs40 in Karachi. But it varies for different routes and reaches a maximum of Rs100 for a route of more than 25 kilometers.

The provincial government has started the project in Karachi, Larkana and Hyderabad, he said, adding that efforts are afoot to expand the bus service to other cities.

The minister said that Sindh’s CM Murad Ali Shah has prioritised the development of the bus service. In this regard, Memon said the provincial government is giving subsidies for the service.

On June 20, the launched the People’s Bus Service mobile app to facilitate commuters. “The app will be live by June 22,” he said during a meeting on Monday.
