Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that cracks have started appearing in the ruling coalition and it will not survive for long.

Speaking outside Islamabad’s district court after getting his bail extended, Qureshi said that the alliance was effectively over and only the formal announcment remained to be made.

“You can look at my clips and interviews, I had said that the alliance is disintegrating and the process began from from yesterday,” he told reporters.

He made these comments in reference to the emerging differences between the ruling PMLN and PPP over the recently tabled budget for then ext fiscal year.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had told a rally in Swat on Saturday that the federal government had made promises about allocating funds for flood victims in Sindh. He also threatened to vote against the budget if the allocation was not made.

Qureshi said Bilawal had been ‘right’ about the fund allocations but questioned why the PPP had asked for PMLN’s 14 votes to get its mayor elected in Karachi.

The federal government is made up of an alliance of 13 parties including the Pakistan Democratic Movement with PMLN as its biggest party. The PPP is allied with the government and has multiple ministries under its belt including the foreign ministry held by Bilawal himself.
