Jahangir Tareen set to launch new political party: sources
Jahangir Khan Tareen is set to launch his political party “Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party” on Thursday, source said.
Around 100 former MNAs and MPAs plan to join the party during a dinner hosted by Aleem Khan at his residence in Lahore.
The new party’s members are likely to include former governor of Sindh Imran Ismail along with former members of PTI Ali Haider Zaidi, Fidous Ashiq Awan, Murad Raas Fayyazul Hasan Chohan, Hashim Dogar, Jay Prakash, and Aamir Kiani among others.
Among other politicians who are believed to join the new political party are Abdul Aleem Khan, Awn Chaudhry, and Nauman Langrial.
The political leaders expressed their full confidence in the leadership of Tareen.
Tareen, who has been disqualified for life from the Supreme Court, has become active following the May 9 riots and the fallout from it.
On May 9, PTI Chairman Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court. Following Khan’s detention, his supporters took to the streets and attacked important military installations including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House, commonly known as the Jinnah House.
