Karachi university fight: Father of suspect fails to prove affiliation with govt agency

The case was registered in the Mobina Town police station

The University of Karachi’s student quarrel case has taken a new twist as the suspect’s father failed to prove his affiliation with a government office.

The day after the clash, the suspect along with his friends returned to the university and was again involved in a quarrel with the protesting party.

After the clash, five of them were detained by police and were taken to the Mobina Town police station, where the case was registered.

The twist in the case came when the suspect’s father posed as an official of a government agency but failed to prove his affiliation.

During the search, various licensed weapons were recovered from them.

Earlier, Student unions staged a protest demonstration and blocked the University Road on Friday after an Urdu department student was allegedly picked up from outside the mosque located inside the University of Karachi.

Later, the student was recovered in an injured state, claim an IJT spokesperson adding that “he was tortured during the abduction”.

The missing student was identified as Saqib, who reportedly had asked the son of an LEA personnel to remove his car from the road as it was blocking traffic, the protesters said.

The protesters claimed seven to eight armed men wearing civvies came in a Vigo pickup and abducted the student after the Friday prayers.

The students blocked the university road near the Silver Jubilee gate of the university in protest and demanded the release of Saqib.
