With defections continuing from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the seat of opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly could soon see a change.

The PTI had a total of 30 MPAs in the assembly, of which 10 have already left the party.

Among other opposition parties, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has 21 seats in the assembly and is now the second largest party in the house. The Grand Democratic Alliance also has 14 seats.

Reports also emerged on Sunday that the MQM had decided to give the Pakistan People’s Party a ‘tough time’ in the Sindh Assembly. The party has summoned an important meeting in Bahadurabad to chalk out its political strategy among the fast changing political landscape.

The meeting will review the party’s deal with the Pakistan Democratic Movement and also discuss the upcoming budget.

The MQM is part of the government coalition in the centre with the PMLN and the PPP. The party has already expressed its reservations about the ongoing census especially with regard to Karachi’s population being under counted, as the city is the party’s main stronghold.
