A nine-year-old girl was killed while five others including a school teacher were injured when a policeman opened fire at a police van in the Sangota area of Swat.

The Sangota Public School is located inside the police station in Mangalore.

A heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused, Aaj News reported on Monday.

The injured were shifted to the hospital.

The attacker is identified as Mohammad Alam, police officials said. He was on duty in the school. Alam admitted that he opened the firing by mistake on a police van.

DPO Swat Shafiullah confirmed that the accused has been arrested, who is being investigated.
