PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Falak Naz was re-arrested from outside Adiala Jail immediately after her release on Tuesday.

Mazari’s daughter, Imaan, also confirmed the arrest on Twitter. She said that she was waiting with lawyers outside Adiala Jail for her mother, but police arrested from outside the jail.

“We have no idea where they have been taken,” she said.

The re-arrest was made by officials of the Islamabad Police. The Islamabad High Court had ordered the release of both leaders earlier today.

Court orders

The Islamabad High Court has ordered that PTI leader Shireen Mazari be immediately released. The IHC annulled the detention order of Mazari.

Presiding judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb ruled that the record presented by the defendant contained “nothing”.

Shireen was taken into custody under Section 3 (power to arrest and detain suspected persons) of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, which the court annulled on Tuesday.

“Alhamdullillah,” Imaan Mazari, Shireen’s daughter, wrote in a tweet. She thanked the legal team.

The former human rights minister was arrested on May 12 from her residence in Islamabad. In the past few days over half a dozen PTI leaders have been taken into custody by the police, following the arrest of Khan. But the former PM was released on bail last week.

Shireen’s lawyer Zainab Janjua appeared in court.

The government’s lawyer contended that Shireen was accused of inciting and provoking the workers due to which the district magistrate issued an arrest warrant for her on the grounds of MPO.

But Janjua said that her client was at home on May 9, when violent protests started after Khan’s arrest, and she was arrested from her house. “During this time neither Shireen Mazari gave any public statement while the record of her presence at home can be checked from CCTV footage and CDR record,” the lawyer said.

After the completion of the arguments, the court ordered the release of Shireen Mazari.

Shehryar Afridi arrested, claims PTI

Former Shehryar Afridi has been arrested from Islamabad, the PTI claimed on Tuesday. The party claimed that he was taken to an “unidentified location”.

“Ex-Interier Minister, Shehryar Afridi has been abducted along with his wife, who has no political role,” the party said in a tweet.

He joins the list of several PTI leaders arrested following the arrest of their party chief Imran Khan on May 9. So far it was not clear where he was taken, but many of the central leadership of PTI have been sent to Adiala Jail.

The Imran Khan-led party has slammed the ruling alliance for their apparent tactics to sideline the PTI from the political spectrum and stop them from contesting elections.

Sources within the federal capital police said that the former minister was arrested under Section 3 (power to arrest and detain suspected persons) of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.

“Daughter of absconder MNS, who deceived law of Pakistan & he is sitting in same home, where Maryam claimed London tu Kiya Pakistan ma bhe koi property nahe, she is openly challenging the Supreme Court of Pakistan, she is challenging the institute which vanguards the Constitution of our motherland,” Afridi tweeted before his arrest.

The police conducted another raid to arrest Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid and Rashid Shafiq Sheikh in Lal Haveli on Monday, but no arrest was made.

Earlier, the police also arrested PTI leader Fayyazul Hasan Chauhan from Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh. A case was registered against Chauhan at the Sadiqabad police station on May 9. He is accused of arson and inciting workers.

Amidst this, the PTI issued orders for full legal assistance to the martyred, injured and arrested workers.

“It is hereby directed to all ex-MNAs/MPAs across Pakistan and current PP ticket holders in Punjab to liaison with respective ILF lawyers team to provide assistance to all arrested/injured/martyred party workers and their families,” said the party statement.
