The Ministry of Education and Literacy Department of Sindh has denied Fatima Bhutto’s allegations of ghost schools in Sajawal saying that a new build of the said school has been built.

In an Instagram post, the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto once again highlighted the issue by sharing pictures of the school.

“About the Sajawal ghost school that was empty and growing weeds out of its windows thanks to the rampant corruption of the Sindh government - if it can even be called that, since they don’t do even the barest minimum (it’s still empty and still a ghost school two months later even though an official came to visit after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and I wrote about it, see last picture),” she wrote on Instagram.

“The first 2 pictures are the Sajawal taluka hospital - construction was started 10 years ago and left like this, skeletal. Women delivering babies have to drive all the way to Larkana to get basic medical attention, sometimes dying on the short journey. This is corruption in practice- no schools, no hospital. You know where the money is going, the whole country knows. And generations will pay for it,” she added.

Responding to the aforementioned allegations from Fatima, the ministry stated that a new school has been built 300 meters away from the abandoned building.

“It is again shared for your record that this is an abandoned structure built around 5 decades back, the new building has been built, some 300 meters near with three rooms and a lavatory block which is functioning smoothly. The pics are given for ready reference,” read the tweet by the Sindh Government.

Moreover, it also attached pictures of the school.

Meanwhile, Murtaza Wahab shared a video of the school on Twitter stating that Shah Nawaz Bhutto Primary School is fully functional with boys and girls both getting primary education.
