An oil tanker ran over a group of nomads in Dunyapur city of Lodhran district in southern Punjab on the first day of Eid, killing at least seven people.

Initial reports suggest a tire of the speeding oil tanker burst near Kahror Pakka Chowk and the driver lost control. The vehicle ran over a group of nomads sleeping in their makeshift homes on the roadside.

Four children, two women, and one man were killed while four people, including two women, were seriously injured.

The injured were moved to the tehsil headquarters hospital, where they were being treated for their wounds.

The deputy commissioner and the district police officer have announced Rs50,000 for the families of each of the dead.
