Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrates Eid in several areas
The custom of celebrating Eid a day earlier than the rest of the nation continued in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa this year as several towns and cities observed the religious holiday on Friday.
Eid prayers were offered in the Bajaur district in areas of Nawagai and Mamund. Khazana village in the lower Dir district, Bar Qamber Khel in the Bara tehsil, and Mandal Dag, a locality in Swat are also celebrating Eid on Friday.
On Thursday night, MNA Mohsin Dawar tweeted that the Eid moon had been sighted in North Waziristan.
People celebrating Eid said that every year, they celebrate Eid with Saudi Arabia.
This is not the first time Pakistanis have celebrated Eid on two different days. The moon-sighting debate happens almost every year.

In recent years, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and Mufti Shahabuddin Popolzai—the chief cleric at Peshawar’s historic Masjid Qasim Ali Khan—had made different announcements to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
However, contrary to expectations, this year Peshawar’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that the first day of Eid ul Fitr would be marked on April 22, Saturday.
