South Dakota governor faces backlash after revealing ‘granddaughter has guns’
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is facing backlash after saying that her “two-year-old granddaughter has many guns”.
She made this revelation on Friday at a National Rifle Association (NRA) lobbying leadership forum in Indiana.
“Now Addie, who you know – soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and she’s got a little pony named Sparkles too. So the girl is set up,” said Noem.
Her remarks have gone viral on social media with many believing that she is promoting gun ownership among children.
“Absolutely sickening. How the hell is this real life in America?” a user wrote on Twitter.
Another user wrote that his can’t be real.
Nonetheless, her comments come in the wake of yet another mass shooting involving children, after six people — including three nine-year-old students — were killed at a Nashville Christian school last month.
