Court stops recount in 6 Karachi UCs
The Islamabad High Court has admitted an appeal to stop a re-count of votes for six Karachi union councils.
The court ordered for re-polling instead. The court said it wanted to hear from candidates as well. Six people were in the running and so Justice Sardar Aijaz Ishaq Khan ordered for them to appear.
The Jamaat-e-Islami’s lawyers are Qaisar Imam and Hasan Javaid. The Election Commission is being represented by Saad Hasan.
The next hearing will be on April 19.
Karachi’s local government elections were held on January 15 this year.
