A woman was killed and 47 others injured during free flour distribution stampedes in Sahiwal Tuesday.

The incident happened at Nawaz Sharif Park because of the overwhelming crowds and lack of infrastructure.

The stampede took place due to the huge rush of people coming to get free flour, women were also standing in queues in large numbers that the crowd became uncontrollable due to the push.

At least 25 people were provided medical treatment on the spot while 18 injured including women were shifted to the Teaching hospital, rescue sources said.

At least six people have been killed so far across Punjab in such incidents.

Moreover, In Dera Ismail Khan, police baton-charged the disordered crowed during the distribution of flour at Degree College Parwa.

The organisers said that people attacked the flour truck. Later, Police after restoring the law and order distributed the floor in queues.
