It looks like the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are closing in on reaching a consensus over the upcoming Asia Cup which is hosted by Pakistan.

The tournament, which will be in a one-day format, is scheduled to be played in the first half of September.

In the proposed solution, India are likely to play their matches on a neutral venue, according to ESPNCricinfo. Pakistan will face the arch-rivals at the same venue. The possibility of India and Pakistan playing three times remains. However, the rest of the matches will likely be played in the host country.

Pakistan and India are placed in the same group with a qualifying team. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in another group.

For the neutral venue, UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka, and England are under consideration for hosting India matches.

The development comes after an informal meeting between PCB’s Najam Sethi-led team met BCCI representatives in Dubai.

It must be noted here that the two boards failed to reach a resolution in mid-March in Bahrain at the ACC meeting.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has a clear stance for not accepting the suggestion of swapping the tournament from the host country. If the tournament is moved from Pakistan, then it would affect the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
