Fawad Chaudhry claims 750 PTI workers arrested in Ramazan
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that police detained around 750 of their party activists, during raids in different parts of the country.
The senior PTI lawmaker made this announcement on Twitter without sharing any details about the abducted party workers.
He wrote: “So far about 750 people have been arrested. Thought that Ramazan is the month of peace, the devils will be closed, but these devils do not even realize that poor people have been picked up and put in jails.”
“What will their home and family suffer, especially when the sole earner is in jail?” asked Chaudhry.
The tweet from Fawad Chaudhry came hours after PTI social media head, Azhar Mashwani was abducted from outside his residence in Lahore.
PTI chairman Imran Khan demanded immediate release of Mashwani, stating that he is sending pictures of this criminal behaviour to international Human Right organizations.
His arrest draw a strong protest from Imran Khan, who tweeted: “Enough is enough. Police in Punjab & Islamabad are breaking all laws with impunity as they target PTI. Today Azhar Mashwani was abducted in the afternoon from Lahore & his whereabouts are unknown.”
The PTI chairman when on to add that Senator Shibli Faraz and Omar Sultan, on March 18, were ‘badly beaten’ by Islamabad police despite both having permission to be inside Judicial Complex.
Earlier, PTI chairman Imran Khan’s focal person of legal affairs and nephew Hassaan Niazi was produced before an Islamabad district and sessions court. He is facing charges of “misbehaving with the police”.
