Moderate earthquake shakes cities in Punjab
A moderate earthquake of 4.4 magnitude shook several cities across Punjab province in Pakistan Thursday afternoon, two days after a much more powerful earthquake jolted most of the country.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad reported that the 4.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 4:38pm according to local time. Its epicenter was 30 kilometers southwest of Sargodha in Punjab at the depth of 30 kilometers, it said.
Earthquake tremors were felt in Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bhalwal, Chiniot and Phalia among other areas.
People rushed out of their homes, reciting Kalima Tayyaba.
There were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
On Tuesday, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Balochistan were jolted by a 6.8 earthquake.
At least 11 people were killed in KP where over 150 houses were also damaged, the National Disaster Management Authority said on Thursday.
