Babar Azam to receive civil award on Pakistan Day
Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam will receive the prestigious civil award Sitara-e-Imtiaz on March 23.
He will be awarded for his remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s cricket as a captain and a top-performing batter.
The prolific runs-getter won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy (ICC Player of the Year), as well as the Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year in the 2022 ICC Awards.
At the age of 28, Babar Azam will become the youngest cricketer to receive the award. Previously, former Pakistan captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, was the youngest Pakistan cricketer to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
The award will be presented on March 23, which coincides with the Pakistan Day celebrations.
Several other cricketers have received this prestigious award that includes former captains, Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Javed Miandad, Inzamamul Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, and Sarfraz Ahmed.
