Pakistan prolific runs-getter Babar Azam continued his impressive runs with the bat as he surpassed Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli for his latest T20 feat.

The 28-year-old scored 64 off 39 deliveries with the help of 10 boundaries as Peshawar Zalmi secured a 12-run victory to stay alive in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight.

Doing so, he became the fastest player ever to complete 9,000 runs in T20 cricket surpassing West Indies great Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat in 249 games.

Before Thursday’s Eliminator, Azam needed 35 runs to achieve the milestone. The Pakistan all-format captain took only 27 innings to move from 8,000 to 9,000 runs in the shortest format of the game.
