KWSB’s anti-theft cell conducts operation against illegal water hydrants
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB)’s anti-theft cell seized a water tanker, a hookup, and a pump during an operation against illegal hydrants in Bhittai Colony, Korangi on Saturday.
Water Board officials said that billions of gallons of water was being stolen from the hydrant every day.
KWSB conducted another operation in Allah Wala Town, Korangi. Two pumps and stolen equipment were seized by KWSB. They also seized all equipment used for water theft from hydrants.
Around eight to ten thousand water tankers are supplied to Karachi residents daily, by rough estimates.
The water tanker rates were increased in January 2023. According to prices set by Abdul Hameed Bangash Water Tanker located in Clifton, a 1,000-gallon tanker cost Rs3,000 but in January it went up to Rs4,000.
