A new audio leak on Friday insinuated that PTI leaders were trying to bribe judges of the higher judiciary. But if you listen to the audio you hear the word ‘truck’ being used by one of the speakers.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has rejected the notion that the clip contains a conversation between him and his brother, Faisal Chaudhry, who is a lawyer.

“Another fake audio has been thrown in the market in my name. This audio has nothing to do with me, nor did I ever meet the Chief Justice of Lahore [High Court], nor did I ask him to help Justice Mazahar,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

The video was shared with subtitles and captions claiming that Fawad and Faisal were discussing what is being dubbed as ‘bench fixing’. The two voices in the audio allegedly referred to the Lahore High Court chief justice and a Supreme Court of Pakistan judge, Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi.

A voice attributed to Fawad says that a truck was ready in the name of Justice Mazahar.

While the authenticity of the audio has been challenged, the juxtaposition of truck and judiciary would appear odd to many people.

So, some good Samaritans with political intent took to social media to clear the ambiguity.

They pointed out that Pakistan’s Memon community uses the word ‘truck’ to mean Rs1 billion.

Where did the term originate from

The Memon community also uses ‘peti’ and ‘khokha’ to mean ‘a hundred thousand’ and ‘ten million’, respectively.

In Urdu, peti means ’ a small box’ and khokha refers to ‘a larger hollowed-out box.’ So, these two refer to secondary and tertiary levels of packaging. The truck signifies the biggest package of all.

Most people from the Memon community are business professionals engaged in trade at various levels.
