Justice Faez Isa to determine admissibility of cipher petitions
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is moving towards hearing petitions for an investigation into the cipher at the heart of Imran Khan’s claims about a foreign conspiracy to ouster him.
The petitions were filed months ago but the Registrar’s Office raised objections against them. The petitioners then filed appeals which were fixed for a hearing in January.
However, Justice Sardar Tariq Maqsood refused the hear the appeal.
Now, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has fixed the appeals for hearing before Justice Faez Isa on February 22.
Justice Faez Isa will conduct an in-chamber hearing and determine the admissibility of the petitions.
The petitions seek a high-powered commission of inquiry to investigate “anti-state activities” of PDM parties which removed Imran Khan in a vote of no confidence.
The political parties have been accused of “abuse of power” under the provisions of the Constitution and sedition and treason against a democratically and legally elected government.
