Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif embarked on a visit to Turkiye today to offer support and solidarity after a devastating earthquake.

The Turkish amabssador was among those who saw off the PM.

The PM had originally planned the visit on February 6. However, it was abruptly called off amid speculation that Turkish authorities had asked Pakistan to postpone the visit.

The earlier plan of the visit had forced the government to postpone a multi-party conference to which all major political parties had been invited for a consensus on national issues.

The death toll of the Turkiye earthquake has crossed 41,000. Relief operations, to which Pakistan has also contributed, are still in progress.
