Man shot dead in front of his family in North Karachi
KARACHI: A criminal in North Karachi killed a man named Muzammil and injured his wife and children while they were heading home on Wednesday night. The robber shot Muzammil in the face and fled. The victim’s four and six-year-old sons and young niece witnessed the murder.
Muzammil and his family were returning home to PIB Colony after visiting his sister at Shahnawaz Bhutto Colony. The victim was on his motorcycle with his wife, two sons, and niece when they were approached by a robber at the 4J bus stop in North Karachi.
“A thief wearing white shalwar kameez approached us with a gun and demanded my Aunt hand over her purse,” the victim’s niece said. “He started snatching the purse from my Aunt and it fell, Muzammil bent down to pick it up, on which the accused shot and killed him. He saw some people approaching and fled immediately,’’ she told the media.
While the attacker was snatching the wife’s purse, the motorcycle lost its balance and fell, injuring the wife and sons.
The victim’s sister has registered a case of the incident at Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Police Station. She said that Muzammil was 35 and was the only brother to five sisters; his wife was pregnant with a third child. Muzammil’s wife has not yet been told that her husband has passed away.
Police has collected evidence and obtained videos from nearby CCTV cameras.
