Inquiry holds Hyderabad school staffers responsible after student dies by suicide
An inquiry committee has recommended a police investigation against two school staff members over the death of a girl student at a private Hyderabad school. The sixth grader died by suicide on Monday.
CCTV footage showed the schoolgirl climbing the railing in the third flood passageway and then jumping to the ground as two staff members are seen near her, apparently trying to persuade her to get down from the railing.

An inquiry committee comprising officials from the directorate inspection and registration of private institutions Hyderabad region submitted its report to the director of private schools and the Sindh education minister. It also recommended the removal of the school principal.
The report said that “on the basis of evidences i.e, videos captured by the CCTV cameras of schools two person of the school staff seen at the place of incident [who] could hold the student jumping from the third floor of the school building may be included into the enquiry being conducted by the police and the principal of the school Ms. Fozia Baloch may be terminated from her services by the management of the City School.”
The contents of the inquiry report and the order about the suspension of school registration were shared by the Sindh Minister of Education and Literacy Department Sardar Shah on the department’s Twitter handle.
Shah expressed sorrow over the incident and said that no leniency would be shown toward the school.
