This won’t work in PSL: Wahab, Ifthikar engage in funny exchange
After conceding six maximums in an over, Pacer Wahab Riaz took a cheeky dig at Ifthikar Ahmed saying that it won’t work in the Pakistan Super League.
Sunday’s exhibition match at the Bugti Cricket Stadium gave us a glimpse of what is in store in the upcoming PSL8.
Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men were victorious over the Babar Azam XI, where former Zalmi captain Wahab Raiz found himself on the receiving end of Ifthikar Ahmed.
To ensure that Quetta end on a high note, Iftikhar hit Wahab for six sixes in the final over of the innings. The right-hander scored an unbeaten 94 runs in 50 balls.
After the game, the duo can be seen having fun while recalling the moment.
“Note this, this won’t work in the PSL,” said Wahab, who can be seen putting his finger on Quetta Gladiators’ shirt in the video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“We will go on top,” replied Iftikhar.
The newly appointed Sports minister of Punjab then went on the praise the effort of the middle-order batter.
“Hitting six maximums is a big thing, but getting hit six sixes is also about morale,” the pacer said.
Riaz claimed three wickets but conceded 47 runs in his full quota of four overs.
Later, taking to Twitter after the match, which the Gladiators won by three runs, Riaz said that he was disappointed over his bowling but was happy with the way Ahmed batted.
Chasing 185 for victory, Zalmi were restricted to 181-7 in 20 overs.
