Derbyshire County Cricket Club head coach Mickey Arthur is reportedly set to take up Pakistan’s coaching job online.

Arthur has been on Najam Sethi’s radar since he returned to the helm of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“I’ve said it before, that I’ve not closed the Mickey Arthur chapter and it is not closed yet,” Sethi had said, confirming that he is personally negotiating with Mickey. “I think, we have sealed 90 percent of the deal, and hopefully very soon we may give you the news that Mickey will be joining us.”

As expected, the management committee is optimistic to finalise the contract with Arthur within two weeks, Daily Jang reported. Interestingly, Arthur will take up the role online till this year’s ICC World Cup in India.

Meanwhile, he will continue to work with Derbyshire as a full-time coach. By doing so, he will become the first-ever online coach.

The South African, who served as Pakistan’s head coach from 2016-2019, is expected to suggest names for batting and bowling coaches as well.

PCB will also reportedly appoint Arthur’s assistant who will serve with the team on the ground in his absence.
