An autopsy report of Sara Malik, who was found dead at Karachi’s Seaview beach and was believed to have committed suicide by jumping into the sea, has suggested that she died at the beach and that she had not committed suicide.

Sara, a resident of the Mehmood Abad area of the metropolis, worked at the RPK Critter Care & Animal Hospital in the city’s DHA Phase 6 area.

Police initially believed that the woman had committed suicide by jumping into the sea. But a post-mortem of her body revealed an entirely different story.

Medico-legal sources revealed that bruisings were seen over various parts of Sara’s body, including her eyes, nose, lips, and heels apparently caused before she died.

The report noted that Sara’s jacket was wet from the front (the side facing the ground) and dry from the back (the area exposed to the sky). The report further noted that there was no mud in her jeans and jacket.

It said that Sara’s body appeared ‘fresh’ since it had not become stiff due to rigor mortis at the time of post-mortem.

Medicolegal sources said that her body had been dumped on the beach. They said that she may have been alive and had died on the beach.

However, the police officials said that the actual cause of death could be determined after final reports of medical examinations were received.

On January 6, police were called on the 15 helpline and informed that a woman had apparently jumped into the sea to commit suicide.

It was unclear whether the drowning was accidental or intentional. The woman’s family say that the girl was not suicidal.

Her body was recovered from the sea by rescue workers after two days.
