PTI’s Ali Zaidi injured as PPP, PTI workers clash in Kemari

Activists of both parties pelted each other with stones

Several people including PTI MNA Ali Zaidi were injured as activists of the PPP and PTI clashed outside the office of district returning officer (DRO) in Karachi’s Kemari.

The PTI was holding a protest outside the office of DRO Korangi against the results of the Local Government elections in Karachi.

Reports said that the protest turned into a battleground as the activists of both parties pelted each other with stones. Khurram Sher Zaman and Ali Zaidi led the protest.

Zaidi told the reporters that he was injured in the clash. “The PPP’s goons came and started pelting us with stones which left me injured,” he added.

Zaman told Aaj News that his party was demanding the DRO and the DC to notify the results as per the form-11. He claimed that the provincial government was using administration against the PTI workers.

The PTI workers also staged protest outside the DRO office in Habib Chaurangi area of the metropolis. The police baton charged the workers and arrested several party workers.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has staged a protest against the results on University Road that affected the traffic flow.

A day earlier JI had announced staging countrywide protests against the apparent delay in the results.
