No talk with terrorists or militant groups, says Rana Sanaullah

Interior minister says lone shooter responsible for assassination attempt on Imran

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah rubbished former information minister and PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain’s claims that the assassination attack on PTI chief Imran Khan was executed by three different attackers, saying that the statement of the accused Naveed was 100% correct and that no one was involved in the attack except the accused Naveed.

The interior minister’s denial came a day after Fawad claimed that the investigations proved three attackers were involved in the attempted assassination attack on the PTI chief.

Earlier a forensic report revealed that Imran Khan had been hit by three pieces of bullets and a metal shard when he was standing on a moving container near the Allahwala Chowk in Gujranwala’s Wazirabad city.

Sanaullah while addressing a press conference along with Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor and PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi in Islamabad on Thursday said that Imran Khan was continuously staging drama over the gunfire incident for over a month. The interior minister claimed that the PTI chief did not receive even a bullet.

He said that if Imran Khan was shot, it would only take him two weeks to recover.

“Imran Khan’s campaign to make the country default is based on anti-nationalism,” Sanaullah said.

The minister said that the PTI during its term just kept criticizing the previous government and made false cases against the political rivals for four years.

‘Govt to compile an authentic copy of the Holy Quran’

Sanaullah said that the Ministry for Religious Affairs would compile and publish an authentic copy of the Holy Quran with respect to its Arabic text and translation in consultation with provincial Quran Boards to prevent any kind of distortion. He said that the copy would be used as a reference at all levels.

He said prints of this authentic copy of the Holy Quran will be further distributed at district and tehsil levels. He said the federal and all the provincial governments will ensure that there should be authentic copies of Quran’s Arabic text as well as its translation.

He said action will be taken against any attempt to distort the Quran’s text. He said cyber wing of the Federal Investigation Agency and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority will be responsible for checking negative propaganda on the social media.

‘No talks with terrorists or militant groups’

Speaking regarding the terrorism from Afghan soil in Pakistan, Sanaullah said that the Afghan leadership should not allow its soil to be used for terrorism against Pakistan.

“The Taliban has promised the whole world including Pakistan that they will not allow their land to be used by terrorists,” the interior minister said and added that there should be negotiations with the Afghan government and if Afghanistan fulfilled its promise, the issue of terrorism in Pakistan and other countries will be solved.

He said that in the NSC meeting, it was clarified that there would be no talks with any terrorist or militant group“.
