Out or not out: Sarfaraz Ahmed falls victim to controversial umpiring

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed became the victim of a controversial umpiring decision on day three of the second Test against visitors New Zealand in Karachi on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old batted beautify for his 78, smashing 10 boundaries in his 109-ball knock. The controversy erupted in the 100th over of the innings when third umpire Ahsan Raza gave the former captain out stumped.

The replays showed his studs grounded, with some of it visibly beyond the popping crease line. While part of his foot was lifted, most experts were of the view that it was difficult to make the call with certainty.

In such scenarios, umpires usually give the benefit of the doubt to the batters. However, in Sarfaraz’s case, he was given out.

Most cricket fans, particualrly from Pakistan, were left fuming with umpire Ahsan Raza. A large number of them took to social media to express their opinion.
