Chairman PAC demands Toshakhana record of past ten years

Asks for record of gifts received by generals, political leaders, judges and bureaucrats

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament asked on Tuesday for the record of all the gifts in Toshakhana, including the gifts received by auditors, generals, political leaders, judges, and bureaucrats from the past 10 years.

Chairman PAC, Noor Alam Khan, while chairing a meeting at Parliament House in Islamabad, requested Secretary Cabinet Division to write letters to the Supreme Court, Army, Navy, Air Force, and all Provincial Governors to provide details of the gifts.

The chairman directed the Cabinet Division to provide the Auditor General with the complete records of the Toshakha from 2013 to 2022.

On September 19, a five-member bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja reserved the verdict in the Toshakhana reference against the former premier Imran Khan, saying that the PTI chief had purchased the gifts from Toshakhana paying Rs21.564 million while the Cabinet Division said that the gifts had a value of Rs107.943 million.

The PTI chairman challenged the ECP verdict and said that he will approach the court against his disqualification.

On December 12, a district and sessions court in Islamabad reserved its verdict on a petition filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against PTI chief Imran Khan in the Toshakana case.

The court after hearing arguments from both sides reserved its verdict which will be announced soon.
