Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway on Tuesday. The 306-km project will be called M6.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony in Sukkur, the PM said that with this project, the network of motorways in Pakistan will be completed.

“I hope this motorway will be up to the same standards as the other motorways in the country,” he said, adding that the whole country would have to be included in the country’s development.

The 307-billion Rupee project will be completed in 30 months. It will include 15 interchanges, 19 underpasses, six fly overs and a major bridge on the Indus river. The project also includes the construction of 10 service areas, 50 kilometres apart.

The project is being built by public-private partnership and is expected to decrease the pressure on GT road.

Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah was also present at the ceremony and said that the inauguration marked a ‘very significant’ day for the people of Sindh.
