Gen (rtd) Bajwa used to say my politics is over: Imran Khan
Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan claimed that former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa used to say that Imran’s politics was over and nobody would take a ticket from PTI and PML-N would form the new government.
“What happened in General Bajwa’s last seven months has never happened before,” the PTI chief said speaking in an interview on a private TV channel.
Imran Khan was ousted in April this year following a no-confidence motion tabled against him in the National Assembly.
Since his ouster as a prime minister, the former premier has been leveling allegations against the former army chief and accusing the ‘establishment’ of being involved in his ouster.
“Vote of no confidence could not succeed without the support of the establishment,” the PTI chief said and added that General Bajwa had demanded the removal of Usman Buzdar.
Khan alleged that during the PTI-led government, General (retd) Bajwa controlled the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
“NAB was under Bajwa’s control. He (Gen Bajwa) decided who would be arrested and who will be released,” the PTI chief said.
He admitted that he was unable to take action against mafias despite being in power.
“We did not have the authority. They [military] had influence everywhere,” he said.
He said that what has happened to the country in the last seven months, no enemy could do that.
Commenting on the dissolution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab assemblies, the former premier said that he has decided to dissolve assemblies in December. However, he added, Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi believed the government should run a little longer.
He said he had complete trust in CM Elahi and added that “he would do as I say”.
