Google Play Store services in Pakistan will not be suspended as feared after the government decided to resolve the issue of oustanding payments with the Ministry of IT & Telecom saying that the central had agreed to delay its policy on direct carrier billing (DCB) for one month.

The DCB is an online mobile payment method through which users make purchases by charging payments to their mobile phone carrier bill.

Local newspapers had reported that the service would be suspended on December 1 because of the central back’s decision on DBC payments. However, it was later revealed that the services would not be suspended but users wouldn’t be allowed to pay for them through debit and credit cards and not cellular services providers.

The IT ministry said on Thursday that the Ministry of Finance had agreed to their proposal with regard to coming up with an effective mechanism for payments against Google’s app store services.

IT Minister Aminul Haque said that after the agreement, payments will be made to Google as per schedule and all its application services will remain intact.

The statement added that the telecom operators have been given one month to implement the payment procedure.
